For a small rural school we offer our secondary students a lot of choice.

Student choose 6 NCEA subjects School with face to face specialist teachers.

 

Careers Education is important to us.

 

Due to our small numbers every secondary student gets individual attention, guidance and support regarding the next steps for their future.

Year 9

Emphasis on applying Primary level foundation skills to exploring vocational pathways and preparation for NCEA.  Our small classroom size means every student's progress is closely monitored.

Core/compulsory subjects: 

  • English 

  • Science cross 

  • Digital Technologies NCEA Prep' (in 2020 most NCEA external  assessments will be sat online in a digital format) 

  • Mathematics 

  • Social Studies cross-curricular program 

  • Health and PE 

  • Art 

  • Te Reo 

 Half year option subjects:

  • Food Technology or Hard Materials Technology

Music Class
Year 10

Many students in senior courses are on Individual Learning Programmes.  This means that they are completing a series of Standards that best fit their own individual career aspirations.

  

Students study at least 5 courses at L1-3.  Courses may contain a blend of achievement standards and unit standards from a variety of subjects and domains.

Aside from NCEA we also offer other National Certificates:

  • National Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Skills (L2)

  • National Certificate in Tourism
